The African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) held Africa Water Week 7 under the theme, Toward Achieving Water Security and Safely Managed Sanitation for Africa in Libreville, Gabon from October 28th to November 2018. The meeting is organised every two years, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC) and other development partners. In Libreville, delegates from many countries met to share experiences, and plans to build the continent’s capacity in managing water resources and to work towards providing universal access to sanitation and hygiene.
The final declaration of the conference highlighted the learning that took place, and expressed the participants’ ambitions for water in Africa, including greater engagement of young people, and support for wise use of the continent’s groundwater.
AMCOW has made the content of the conference presentations and daily rapporteurs’ documents available on this site to make the knowledge shared at the meeting more widely available.
